EPL: Manchester City 4-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City made light work of Tottenham

Raheem Sterling scored twice as leaders Manchester City beat Tottenham 4-1 to claim their 16th successive Premier League win.

Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring in the 14th minute after he stooped down low to head home a Leroy Sane corner to grab his first goal of the season.

Kevin De Bruyne doubled the lead on 70 minutes after a City counter-attack led to a Gundogan pass that found a powerful run from the Belgian and he smashed home despite Hugo Lloris getting a hand to the ball.

The Citizens had a chance for their third just five minutes later after De Bruyne was fouled inside the area by Jan Vertonghen, but Gabriel Jesus' penalty hit the post and Sterling put the rebound over the bar.

However, Sterling made amends when he finally found the net with 10 minutes to go. Mousa Dembele initially gave the ball away to De Bruyne who then found Leroy Sane out wide, and he drove in on goal and played a beautiful ball to find Sterling that put the goal at his mercy, with the England international tapping in.

The hosts scored a fourth on 90 minutes when Bernardo Silva's through ball found Sterling who, despite not making a full connection, managed to get the ball between Lloris's legs and over the line.

The visitors did have occasional moments in front of goal and were rewarded with a consolation goal deep into injury-time when Christian Eriksen planted the ball across goal and into the bottom corner.
