EPL: West Brom v Manchester United preview

West Brom v Manchester United preview

Alan Pardew will be hoping to secure his first victory as West Brom manager when his side play host to Manchester United on Sunday.

The Baggies have picked up two points from their three matches since Pardew took over as manager, a sequence of results that leaves them outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

Indeed, Albion have not won in the Premier League since August although they do have a decent home record against United, as they have only lost one of the last three meetings between the two sides at The Hawthorns.

Pardew could receive a double injury boost ahead of Sunday's match, as Matt Phillips and Gareth Barry are both pushing for returns following respective hamstring and thigh injuries.

Manchester United will head into the contest looking to avoid losing further ground in the title race, while they will also be aiming to secure a third successive away win in the top-flight following their triumphs over Watford and Arsenal.

The Red Devils will fancy their chances of emerging from The Hawthorns with all three points, as they claimed a 2-0 victory at the venue last season, although they were held to a goalless draw when the two sides last met at Old Trafford in April.

Paul Pogba will miss the match as he serves the final game of his suspension, as will Eric Bailly, who has been ruled out for up to three months with an ankle injury.

The news is not all bad for Jose Mourinho's side on the injury front, as Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini could both feature following respective head and knee issues.
