Championship Round-Up: Rhodes treble at old club Huddersfield
Jordan Rhodes
Jordan Rhodes put his former employers to the sword with three goals in Blackburn's 4-2 win at Huddersfield, while Leicester continued their march to promotion with victory over Blackpool.
Scotland international Rhodes, 24, opened the scoring on four minutes, and added two more in the second half. Craig Conway was also on target for Rovers, with the Terriers finding the net through Adam Hammill and Nakhi Wells.
Scott Arfield's second-half winner ensured second-placed Burnley's unbeaten home record remained intact as they saw off Leeds 2-1 at Turf Moor. Ross McCormack put Leeds in front in the first half as the visitors looked to end their winless run, having arrived in Burnley without a victory in their last five games. However Leeds could not hold on to the lead as a Jason Pearce own goal meant the teams went into half-time level. And Arfield fired home a winner on 67 minutes to stretch Burnley's unbeaten league run to 14 games, with the Clarets still have not tasted defeat in front of their own fans in this Championship campaign.
Derby's hopes of automatic promotion suffered a setback when they were held to a goalless draw by Reading at the Madejski Stadium. It was the Rams' fourth match without a win this month while Reading's play-off chances were not helped by the draw either, as they have now failed to win their past four home games.
Two goals from winger Will Buckley saw Brighton continue their charge towards the play-offs with an accomplished 2-0 win at Bolton. Buckley struck in either half as Albion continued their fine run in form, having only lost once in the league in their last seven matches which has seen them move one point behind sixth-placed Nottingham Forest.
Keeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos prevented Bournemouth from claiming their fourth successive win with two outstanding second-half saves as Middlesbrough held the Cherries to a 0-0 draw. The goalkeeper, 35, denied Simon Francis and Andrew Surman's long-distance efforts with two diving stops.
Watford beat relegation-threatened Barnsley 3-0 to breeze to a fifth consecutive home league victory without conceding a goal. Goals from Cristian Battocchio and Troy Deeney put the Hornets firmly in command inside the opening 20 minutes and they largely eased through the rest of the contest before substitute Alexander Merkel sealed a 3-0 win with 16 minutes remaining.
