Manchester City will launch a huge bid to sign Luis Suarez; John Terry could yet stay at Chelsea; and Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney open up about United's season - here are the best of the day's stories from the papers.
Manchester City to make stunning swoop for Suarez: Manuel Pellegrini has made Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez his top target for the summer transfer window, according to The Metro. Suarez signed a new deal just before Christmas, but City are ready to shell out the £70m-plus that would be needed to engineer a move.
Giggs fires warning to team-mates, Rooney revelation: The Times leads its sports section on the news that "Ryan Giggs has warned his Manchester United team-mates that talk of the Old Trafford empire crumbling will carry weight until the team prove they can start winning consistently again." Rooney also chips in to the piece - and his quotes are picked up by many of the back pages - as he claimed that, "sometimes it may not look like it, but we are giving everything." The Telegraph's piece leads its report on the Rooney quotes rather than Giggs's, and specifically his admission that, "we didn't expect it to be as tough as it has been" living without Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm.
Terry opens talks to stay at Chelsea: The Blues very own captain, leader and legend could be captaining, leading and, er, legending for one more season at Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Telegraph. The paper claims that the club have opened talks with 33-year-old Terry about a contract extension in recognition of his fine form this season. There's only one snag for the former England skipper: "Terry is likely to be asked to take a cut to his £150,000-a-week wages."
Torres open to Atletico return: The Daily Mirror leads on Fernando Torres's admission that he "does not know if he will be sold this summer" but admits that it's possible he'll return to former club Atletico Madrid, where his former Atletico team-mate Diego Simeone has made waves as manager. "You don’t know where you’re going to be tomorrow, in a week’s time or in 10 years’ time. How can I answer that question?" said Torres, ironically showing exactly how to answer that question.
