West Brom and Watford fined

There were ugly scenes between Watford and West Brom players earlier in December

West Brom and Watford have been each fined £45,000 after admitting the misconduct charge of failing to control their players during the Premier League match on December 3.

The teams were charged by the Football Association following a bust-up involving several members of both sides in the 84th minute of West Brom's 3-1 defeat of the Hornets at The Hawthorns.

Watford's Roberto Pereyra was sent off when he reacted angrily to a challenge from West Brom winger James McClean, an incident which sparked an altercation between the players.

Pereyra appeared to kick out at McClean, after the West Brom midfielder kicked the ball at him while he was on the ground.

After the match West Brom boss Tony Pulis revealed he had warned McClean over his future conduct.

"James has got to control himself and he understands that," Pulis said on December 9.

"Sometimes he does live on the edge but that's the player he is and the person he is. He's a fantastic lad and he's competitive - and you want him to be - but he's got to realise there is a line that you draw and sometimes he goes very close to that line."

It was a feisty encounter with Allan Nyom apologising to Watford fans for celebrating in front of them during the win. The full-back, who left Vicarage Road to join Albion in the summer, had been booed by some fans.

Pereyra had his suspension reduced from three matches to one after appealing successfully appealing the red card received by referee Graham Scott had been "excessive punishment".
