FA Cup: Manchester City v Huddersfield Town preview
Vincent Kompany is nearing a return but will not feature when Manchester City host Huddersfield in their FA Cup fifth-round replay.
The defender pulled out of the goalless draw at the John Smith's Stadium with a leg injury and has not featured since City's fourth-round win over Crystal Palace in January.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed Kompany is in the final stages of his recovery but the visit of Huddersfield comes too soon.
The Sky Bet Championship side saw their six-match winning run in the league ended by a 1-1 draw at Barnsley at the weekend but they remain in the promotion race.
David Wagner's side face a quick turnaround with their trip to City followed by a crunch Championship clash with second-place Newcastle on Saturday.
Meanwhile, City have played just once since facing Huddersfield, beating Monaco 5-3 in a dramatic Champions League last-16 first-leg encounter at the Etihad.
The winner of Wednesday's FA Cup replay will face Middlesbrough in the quarter-finals at the Riverside on March 11.
Kompany is close to returning for City but will not be involved on Wednesday.
City have no other new injuries but Guardiola is still to decide whether Willy Caballero or Claudio Bravo will play in goal, while striker Gabriel Jesus (foot) and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan (knee) are out long term.
