PREM: Tottenham v Middlesbrough preview
Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka will have deadline day signing Adlene Guedioura available for the first time for Saturday's Premier League trip to Tottenham.
Algeria international Guedioura, who joined the club from Watford, could go straight into the squad and may be joined by defender Calum Chambers following his return to training after a foot injury.
However, full-back George Friend will sit out once again with a calf muscle injury picked up during the 1-0 FA Cup fourth round victory over Accrington, while midfielder Gaston Ramirez, the subject of a failed transfer window bid from champions Leicester, is expected to resume training early next week following a knee problem.
Danny Rose is expected to miss the game, having picked up a knee problem in midweek.
Spurs fear the England international will be out for up to four weeks, with Ben Davies set to deputise at full-back.
Jan Vertonghen is sidelined with ankle ligament damage while Hugo Lloris will return to the starting line-up ahead of Michel Vorm if he recovers from illness.
Harry Kane will lead the line while Heung-min Son is likely to have done enough to reclaim his place on the left flank.
