Steve McClaren

Steve McClaren has been sacked by Derby for the second time in less than two years.

The 55-year-old former England manager returned to Derby last October, following his May 2015 dismissal, but a wretched run of results has ended his second spell.

"Derby County has parted company with manager Steve McClaren with immediate effect," the Sky Bet Championship club said in a statement.

Gary Rowett is hot favourite to replace Steve McClaren.

The former Birmingham boss, who has been out of a job since parting company with the Blues in December, was in the immediate aftermath of McClaren's sacking.

Alan Pardew was next in the running at ahead of Roy Hodgson (), Chris Powell ()and Mark Warburton ().

Former Derby boss Nigel Pearson, who was recently linked with a return to Leicester, is 20/1 to get the job once again.
