EPL: Tottenham v Burnley preview

Tottenham v Burnley preview

Tottenham Hotspur have a chance to show there is no Wembley hoodoo when Burnley visit on Sunday afternoon.

Last weekend's 2-1 loss to Chelsea in their first league game at their new home took their run to eight losses in 10 games at the national stadium.

The defeat meant Mauricio Pochettino's team have already lost more home games this season than they did throughout the last campaign.

However, Spurs have won four and lost just one of their previous six Premier League meetings with Burnley, who stunned Chelsea on the opening weekend but suffered a home reverse to West Bromwich Albion.

Tottenham remain hopeful that club-record signing Davinson Sanchez will receive a work permit in time to feature.

The Colombia international defender joined Spurs from Ajax but may be forced to sit out the meeting at Wembley if his permit is not issued in time.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou (foot), Danny Rose (knee) and Erik Lamela (hips) have progressed in their respective recoveries but are all still missing.

Burnley will be without Jon Walters after he suffered a muscle injury in the Clarets victory over Blackburn in midweek.

Jeff Hendrick is another injury concern with a thigh injury that will be assessed over the new few days.
