EPL: Manchester United v Everton preview

Manchester United v Everton preview

Manchester United will be hoping to maintain their impressive start to the season when they play host to out-of-form Everton.

The Red Devils have collected ten points from their opening four matches of the new Premier League season and they bounced back from a 2-2 draw at Stoke last weekend, by beating Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Jose Mourinho's side have particularly impressed at Old Trafford this term, as they are yet to concede a home goal in any competition, while they have not lost on their own patch since last September, a run of 32 matches.

United also boast an impressive home record against Everton, as they have only lost one of their last 24 Premier League games against the Toffees at Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils will have to make do without midfielder Paul Pogba, who faces six weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, although Romelu Lukaku is available to face his former club.

Everton will head into the contest on a poor run of form, as they have lost their last three matches in all competitions, including consecutive 3-0 defeats against Tottenham in the league and Atalanta in Europe.

The Toffees have also only won one top-flight match on the road this calendar year and their last victory at Old Trafford came in December 2013 when Bryan Oviedo grabbed a late winner.

Wayne Rooney is expected to make his first appearance at Old Trafford since leaving United for Everton in the summer, but boss Ronald Koeman could choose to ring the changes following the Toffees poor run of form.
