Glenn Murray strikes again

Glenn Murray scored the only goal of the game as Brighton heaped more pressure on Swansea with a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans went into the game looking to avoid a fifth defeat in six home games this term but were facing an uphill battle when Murray scored just before the half-hour mark.

Their response was poor as they failed to create much in search of an equaliser and, barring a late scare when the hosts hit the crossbar, Chris Hughton’s men claimed the win to make it four games undefeated.

The victory moves Brighton up to eighth on 15 points while Paul Clement’s men drop into the relegation places on eight points.

Brighton went close on 11 minutes when an inswinging cross almost caught out Lukasz Fabianski who had to tip the ball over his own goal, and collided into the post in doing so.

Chances remained at a premium until the Seagulls took the lead on 29 minutes when Anthony Knockaert’s cross from the right dropped to Murray who diverted the ball into the net off his knee from close range.

It was almost 2-0 moments later when Murray’s effort was deflected just wide and from the subsequent corner Lewis Dunk’s header was superbly saved by Fabianski.

Swansea went close to equalising on 52 minutes when Tammy Abraham went through but Mat Ryan managed to save the ball with his face to concede the corner.

Swansea struggled to create any further opportunities until the second minute of stoppage time when Luciano Narsingh got free inside the area, but he slammed his shot against the crossbar as Brighton survived to claim the three points.
