Christian Eriksen celebrates during Tottenham's FA Cup quarter-final win over Swansea

Tottenham remained on course for a first FA Cup success since 1991 following a dominant 3-0 quarter-final victory over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

In the absence of the injured Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen (11) and Erik Lamela (45+1) sent Spurs on their way with superb long-range strikes.

Eriksen extended Spurs' advantage in the 62nd minute after some poor defending from Carlos Carvalhal's side, whose focus will now switch back to Premier League survival after the upcoming international break.

 

For Spurs, who are the first name into the hat for Sunday's semi-final draw, they reach the last four for the second successive season for the first time in 36 years as Mauricio Pochettino looks to win his first trophy as Tottenham manager.

 

Spurs' task was helped by an early breakthrough as Swansea stood off Eriksen and the Denmark international punished them, producing a superb strike to beat Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

 

The visitors thought they had a second in the 23rd minute through Heung-min Son but the flag was raised for offside against South Korean forward after he latched onto Eriksen's through ball. With VAR in use referee Kevin Friend checked in but with replays showing how tight it was, the decision stayed with the on-field official.

 

Pochettino's side did eventually get the second they deserved just before the break. The Swansea defence stood off again, this time allowing Lamela time and space to pick his spot from the edge of the area.

Carvalhal reacted by sending on Luciano Narsingh for Kyle Naughton at the break and they almost found a way back into the game through Martin Olsson then Tammy Abraham, but former Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm made a superb double stop to preserve his side's two-goal advantage.

 

Nordfeldt responded with a fine save of his own to deny Eric Dier but he couldn't keep out Eriksen's 62nd-minute strike as Spurs made sure of victory.

Dier's cross deflected into the path of Lucas Moura, who laid the ball off for Eriksen, and the Dane's low strike found the bottom corner despite Nordfeldt getting a touch.
