Premier League - Everton edge Swansea to climb to fifth

Premier League, Goodison Park – Everton 3 (Baines pen 20, Lukaku 53, Barkley 58) Swansea City 2 (Bony 33, Williams 90+2)
Everton climbed above Tottenham Hotspur and up to fifth place in the table after seeing off a spirited Swansea City 3-2 at Goodison Park.
Swansea were actually the better side for long periods of the match and created far more chances but Everton were the more clinical in their finishing.
A Leighton Baines penalty put the home side ahead after a crazy challenge from Chico Flores on Ross Barkley in the box. And second half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley put the game to bed after Wilfred Bony had equalised before the break.
Swansea continued to press and grabbed a late consolation deep in injury time from the head of skipper Ashley Williams but the clock was against them and they now face a difficult run of fixtures in their fight for survival.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Tim Howard (Everton): But for a couple of fine saves, his team would have lost to a side who carved out chance after chance. A poor Everton have their keeper to thank today.
