EPL: Watford v Brighton preview

Watford v Brighton preview

Watford will be looking to compound Brighton's difficult start to life in the Premier League when the two sides meet at Vicarage Road.

Marco Silva's side have picked up four points from their opening two top-flight matches, following up a 3-3 home draw against Liverpool on the opening day with an impressive 2-0 success at Bournemouth last weekend.

The Hornets have not gone three matches unbeaten in the top-flight since February, but they will fancy their chances of gaining a positive result against Brighton, as they are unbeaten in their last five meetings with the South Coast club.

New loan signing Andre Carrillo could make his Watford debut during Saturday's match, following his arrival from Benfica, although Younes Kaboul, Daryl Janmaat and Roberto Pereyra remain sidelined with muscular injuries, while Jose Holebas is suspended.

Brighton have began life as a Premier League club with back-to-back 2-0 defeats against Manchester City and Leicester, although a much changed Seagulls team did overcome Barnet in the Carabao Cup last time out.

Chris Hughton has moved to strengthen his squad over the last few days with the arrival of club record signing Jose Izquierdo from Club Brugge and he could make his debut at Vicarage Road.

Experienced duo Glenn Murray and Steve Sidwell should be fit following respective ankle and back injuries, while winger Anthony Knockaert is pushing for his league start of the campaign after featuring in the cup.

Saturday's match willl be the first top-flight meeting between Watford and Brighton since January 1983.
