EPL: Burnley v Crystal Palace preview

Burnley v Crystal Palace preview

Burnley will be looking to prolong Crystal Palace's difficult start to the season when the two teams clash at Turf Moor on Sunday.

The Clarets themselves have made an impressive start to the season, collecting four points from away trips to Chelsea and Tottenham, although they did lose their only home match of the campaign to date, going down 1-0 against West Bom.

Sean Dyche's side did the double over Palace last season, including a 3-2 victory on home soil when Ashley Barnes grabbed a 94th-minute winner.

Indeed Burnley have only lost one of their last five meetings with the Eagles, although that was at Turf Moor in January 2015.

Midfielder Jeff Hendrick is a major doubt for Sunday's match, as he continues to struggle with the thigh injury that saw him miss both of Republic of Ireland's matches during the international break.

Club-record signing Chris Wood could be handed his first start after coming off the bench to score against Spurs last time out.

Palace will head into the match having lost all three league matches to date this season, while they are also yet to score a top-flight goal.

Frank de Boer only took over the reins at Selhurst Park during the summer, but he is already coming under pressure and is in need of a positive result this weekend.

The Eagles have not lost their opening four league matches of a new season since 1925, but they will once again have to do without winger Wilfried Zaha, who remains sidelined with a knee injury.

The news is more positive for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, James Tomkins and Yohan Cabaye, as all three players are expected to be fit, while Mamadou Sakho could make his second debut for the club, after re-joining on a permanent basis from Liverpool on deadline day.
