EPL: Liverpool v Burnley preview

Liverpool v Burnley preview

Liverpool could hand Philippe Coutinho his first start of the season when the Reds host Burnley at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Having fended off strong interest in the player from Barcelona, Jurgen Klopp has eased Coutinho back into the fray with the 25-year-old making a substitute's appearance in the midweek Champions League draw with Sevilla.

But with Sadio Mane serving a three-game suspension, the Reds boss seems happy to start with the Brazilian as Liverpool welcome a Burnley side who are currently one place above them in the table.

Klopp has also revealed that he will make a change between the posts, with Simon Mignolet set to return following Loris Karius' appearance in Wednesday's European tie.

Burnley have been forced into also making a goalkeeping change, with Tom Heaton facing at least a couple of months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a dislocated shoulder. Nick Pope will replace England international Heaton and make his first Premier League appearance.

Sean Dyche has been boosted by the return to training of Jeff Hendrick, who could be included in the Clarets squad having recovered from a thigh injury.

Liverpool have won all three previous Premier League home games against Burnley, although they did loss 2-0 at Turf Moor in the early stages of last season. The home side can equal a Premier League club record of five straight clean sheets at home, if they can keep Burnley at bay.
