EPL: Bournemouth 0-0 Leicester City

Leicester offer little attacking threat

Jermain Defoe hit the woodwork but Bournemouth had to settle for a point after a grim 0-0 draw against Leicester City.

The Cherries remain in the relegation zone as a result of the stalemate but they had enough chances to have clinched their second victory of the campaign.

The home team almost took the lead after only three minutes when Josh King found Defoe whose close-range effort hit the bar.

The rebound fell to Marc Pugh but his shot deflected off Danny Simpson and away to safety although it appeared the ball had hit the Foxes player’s hand.

Eddie Howe’s side dominated the opening stages and Junior Stanislas sent a shot over the bar while Pugh dragged his effort wide.

Leicester struggled to get a foothold in the match and King wasted another good opportunity for Bournemouth after being set up by Pugh who then blasted an eight-yard shot over the bar.

Kasper Schmeichel saved Stanislas’ shot after the break as the home side continued to look the likelier winners of the match.

The Foxes should have taken the lead on the hour mark when Shinji Okazaki side-footed wide from about 10 yards out.

Andrew Surman went close to grabbing a late winner for Bournemouth with a curling shot before Schmeichel tipped Stanislas’ effort over the bar.

At the other end Jamie Vardy almost grabbed a goal for Craig Shakespeare's side against the run of play but in the end the match ended goalless.
