Crystal Palace finally ended their wait for a Premier League goal as they sensationally beat champions Chelsea 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

An early own-goal from Cesar Azpilicueta ended the Eagles' 12-hour goal drought, but Chelsea were soon level through Tiemoue Bakayoko's header.

On the stroke of half-time, Wilfried Zaha slotted what proved to be the winning goal and what might prove to be three crucial points for Palace boss Roy Hodgson.

For Antonio Conte, there will be real worry as his Blues side rarely threatened to do anything in the second half.

Palace started the brighter of the teams and they hit the front on 11 minutes, albeit with a hint of good fortune.

Andros Townsend's low cross from the right was well controlled by Yohan Cabaye initially, but his attempt at a shot bounced off the unfortunate Azpilicueta and past Thibaut Courtois into the net, sparking euphoria inside the stadium.

Just seven minutes later and Palace's frailties were brutally exposed, Fabregas firing in a corner that found Bakayoko completely unmarked to head downwards into the net.

To their credit, the home side did not allow that setback to knock them off their stride and they were deservedly in front again before the break.

Mamadou Sakho showed real determination to retain possession inside the Chelsea half and his pass found Zaha inside the box.

A clever touch from the winger, allied to his speed, took Azpilicueta out of the game and he slotted the ball across Courtois into the net.

Crystal Palace maintained their hard work throughout the second half and limited Chelsea to few chances.

Young sub Charly Musonda had the best of them, but after initially controlling the ball well, he fired off target.

With time running out, Patrick Van Aanholt really should have put some gloss on the win for Palace, but he blasted wide after Courtois had spilled a long-range shot from Townsend into his path.
