EPL: Liverpool 3-0 Huddersfield Town

Georginio Wijnaldum, right, celebrates with Emre Can after smashing in Liverpool's third.

Liverpool eased to a 3-0 win over Huddersfield after second-half goals from Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Georgino Wijnaldum.

The hosts dominated possession in the opening exchanges but couldn't find a way through Huddersfield's stubborn defence.

Mohamed Salah saw a penalty saved by visiting keeper Jonas Lossl in the latter stages of the first half although Liverpool took the lead soon after the restart.

Sturridge opened the scoring on 50 minutes as he pounced on a mistake by Tommy Smith before coolly slotting the ball home.

Firmino doubled their advantage just before the hour mark when he headed home James Milner's delivery.

Wijnaldum rifled home the third on 75 minutes to end any lingering hopes of an unlikely Huddersfield fightback at Anfield.
