EPL: Arsenal 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur

A brilliant performance from Mesut Ozil helped secure Arsenal all three points over their North London rivals Spurs.

Arsenal defied all expectations as they coasted to a comfortable 2-0 victory over their arch enemies during the day's early kick-off.

Two first-half goals were enough, the first coning from a Shkodran Mustafi header after Davinson Sanchez was alleged to have fouled Alexis Sanchez, although the Colombian did appear to get a touch on the ball.

More controversy imminently followed, as Mustafi appeared to have strayed offside from the resulting free kick, before deploying a powerful header back across Hugo Lloris and in off the post.

The goal stood, sending the Emirates into elation and things got even better, as Sanchez doubled Arsenal's lead minutes before half time. Alexandre Lacazette was played in behind the Spurs back-line, before pulling back to the Chilean who was able to fire home from close range. Again, the linesman came under scrutiny, with Lacazette bordering on offside, although the flag stayed down.

Lloris will have been disappointed with his role in the goal, as he hesitated on his line; allowing Sanchez to fire into the roof of the net. The Tottenham coaching staff were fuming as the two teams went into the break, with anger at both the foul given for Arsenal's opening goal, and the linesman's role in both.

The second half was relatively devoid of incident, as Arsenal comfortably saw out the 90 minutes, as both Harry Kane and Dele Alli were surprisingly substituted after underwhelming performances.

Concern will arise not just about Kane's performance, but his fitness levels, as he seemed to be playing with a knock all game which raises the question, should he have played at all? However, Arsenal go into the next round of fixtures with a huge boost of confidence, after completely outplaying their rivals and should use this game as a stepping stone for a serious challenge on the top 4 spots in the Premier League.
