EPL: Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace

Son Heung-min scores the winner
A second-half strike from Son Heung-min secured Tottenham a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The first talking point of the match came as early as the second minute, when Spurs stand-in goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga appeared to collide with Palace defender Mamadou Sakho, but the referee Kevin Friend waved away the half-hearted penalty claims.
Following that early scare, Spurs took control of the match, without ever really threatening the Palace goal, while the Eagles almost edged in front on 35 minutes, but Scott Dann’s header was saved well by Gazzaniga.
Into the second half and Palace came close once again when Andros Townsend capitalised on a mistake from Serge Aurier, but he saw his low drive saved by the busy Gazzaniga.
Zaha then came even closer to giving Palace the lead when he was the beneficiary of another inexplicable error from Aurier, but after rounding Gazzaniga, he pulled his shot wide of the open goal.
Luka Milivojevic then had a header from close-range saved by Gazzaniga as Palace continued to pile on the pressure during the early stages of the second period.
However, the Eagles were made to pay for those misses, as on 64 minutes, following some pinball in the Palace penalty area, Heung-Min Son unleashed a curling effort from the edge of the box to give Spurs a 1-0 lead.
Son then missed a great opportunity to seal the match, but despite having the freedom of the Palace penalty area, he pulled his shot wide of the target.
The South Korean’s miss did not prove crucial, however, as Spurs held on for the victory that consolidates their third-place position in the league standings, while Palace remain bottom.
