EPL: West Ham 1-4 Liverpool

Mohamed Salah celebrates

Mohamed Salah scored twice as Liverpool hammered West Ham 4-1 at the London Stadium to pile more pressure on Slaven Bilic.

The Egyptian ace linked perfectly with the returning Sadio Mane who claimed two assists although the hosts turned in another lacklustre performance, with Manuel Lanzini's 55th-minute strike proving to be no consolation.

It all could have been so different for the home side as, in an otherwise subdued opening 15 minutes, there was a moment of optimism when Andre Ayew hit the post following a searching ball over the top.

Salah's 21st-minute opener turned the match on its head. Direct from a West Ham corner the away team broke through the lightning duo of Salah and Mane, and with only Aaron Cresswell between the onrushing Liverpool counter-attack, Salah was able to easily slide the ball past Joe Hart.

The Reds grabbed their second when Joel Matip tapped home from close range after West Ham had failed to deal with Salah's scuffed delivery.

West Ham's first half desperation was best summed up on 36 minutes when captain Mark Noble was booked for simulation in a Joel Matip tackle.

The Hammers threw on former Liverpool striker Andy Carroll at half-time and for a moment things looked up for the home side.

A 54th-minute ball over the top found Lanzini who brought it down and produced a fine finish past stand-in Liverpool captain Simon Mignolet.

But within seconds Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had claimed his first league goal for Liverpool and restored their two-goal lead after his shot rebounded from the legs of a desperate Hart.

Salah wrapped up the scoring in the 75th minute to leave Hammers boss Bilic facing an uncertain future heading into the international break.
